PROTECT YOURSELF FROM RANSOMWARE!
WannaCrypt, aka WannaCry, is a new ransomware that is spreading across thousands of Windows devices in almost a hundred countries. This cyberattack started on May 12, 2017, and is a malicious software that blocks access to the victim’s data or threatens to publish or delete it until a ransom is paid. Victims of this attack include the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), Spain’s Telefonica, FedEx and more.
Although a “Kill Switch” has been released and has effectively slowed down the spread of the ransomware, there is currently no decryption tools or solutions available. The best course of action is to prevent the spread by protecting yourself preemptively, as anyone can become a victim.
Here are four ways to protect against ransomware:
1. Back up your data
